CSIM’s Social Entrepreneurship Outlook Program (SEOP) is a four-month part-time program designed to introduce the principles and criteria of social entrepreneurship to existing and potential social change agents. The SEOP aims: □ To introduce NGO founders, staff, trustees, social change agents in corporates, academic institutions and active volunteers to the concept of social entrepreneurship □ To show the potential of social entrepreneurship to address organizational and resource challenges □ To orient socially conscious individuals to the opportunities and needs in the social sector and social entrepreneurship as a means to make social work practice sustainable and effective By the end of the course, participants will: □ Gain a thorough theoretical understanding of the criteria of social entrepreneurship □ Become aware of the possible areas of entrepreneurial action in the social sector (for those who wish to work with social entrepreneurs rather than setting up an organization themselves)
Course Content and Educational Methods The 4-month program addresses the concept of Social Entrepreneurship with specific emphasis on the criteria, processes and values required to become a social entrepreneur. The course is broadly classified into two components □ Module I which deals with the concepts of Social Entrepreneurship □ Module II that provides insights into management tools that support Social entrepreneurship The course requires completion of a project work as part of Field Action Component. The candidates are required to spend a minimum of three hours per week at a designated NGO. A project proposal which encompasses the principles of Social Entrepreneurship learnt in the class has to be submitted at the end of the program.
